Because of her unusual background, Mary brings to the startup community a powerful combination of skills and expertise.

Mary specializes in product-market fit, including target market identification, value proposition design, and pricing strategy.  She also brings expertise in pitch composition and delivery.

Mary has extensive experience in launching new products as a brand manager in consumer packaged goods at Reckitt-Benckiser and at Pillsbury/General Mills. From this hands-on experience, she brings a practical understanding of how to turn business ideas into profitable products.  Mary earned her MBA from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University in Atlanta.

She taught New Product Development, Pricing Strategy, and Market Research as Director of the Graduate Business Program at Hamline University and as an adjunct professor in the graduate school of business at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.  She draws on this extensive knowledge to share with entrepreneurs the best practices in new product development.

Mary also holds a Ph.D. in English Literature with a concentration in the novel from the University of Notre Dame.  She applies this academic training in story and narrative structure to the composition and delivery of funding pitches and other business story-telling.

She currently serves as the Vice Chairman of Gateway Venture Mentoring Service and also mentors startup companies through the Center for Emerging Technologies.
