FlipZone program to grow strong, better businesses
Innovative Technology Enterprises at the University of Missouri–St. Louis and Gateway Venture Mentoring Service are partnering up to offer the FlipZone Comprehensive Business Training Program.
Last year, Missouri Technology Corporation granted funds to the partnership to develop a curriculum that helps established businesses bolster their growth plans. UMSL served has the fiscal agent.
Designated FlipZone, the program’s instructional methods put participant companies through a rigorous and comprehensive 18-week program designed to help them grow. A pilot program showed great success with company participants.
“We found the FlipZone sessions to be some of the most valuable time we have spent on our company,” said Steve Hanlon of Langetech.
FlipZone offers busy business owners a space and chance away from day to day operation demands to consider the overall framework of their business and consider its growth in a larger context.
Top St. Louis business professionals developed the curriculum materials, with input from executives and leaders from companies including Brown Smith Wallace, Enterprise Bank, PNC Bank, IBM, CreatiVenture Law, Bonsai Resource Group, Boeing, and others.
“My effort in the FlipZone program has been the most gratifying mentoring experience,” said Steve Marsh, former CEO of Enterprise Bank and FlipZone expert. “Participants really came prepared to make their businesses better.”
The program core has an innovative instructional method that breaks down needed information for growth. Participants watch instructional videos covering different aspects of business and attend facilitated discussion sessions with subject matter experts.
Applications for the fall class are open until Sep. 1. Visit stlflipzone.org for more information.
